“The teams work exceeded our expectations. We even called on them to help us coach and build our internal teams’ practices and processes. ”
Democratize access to fitness coaching.
Nautilus engaged my agency to enhance the JRNY experience for at-home strength training. As Lead Designer, I developed a solution to improve form, track progress, and streamline workout interactions. Collaborating with Nautilus’ tech team and partners, I led the design of a motion-tracking and voice-assisted system that provides real-time feedback for better performance.
Our process began with a competitive analysis, followed by detailed experience mapping to define the ideal user journey. We then developed production-ready designs that seamlessly integrate with the established JRNY ecosystem, ensuring a cohesive and intuitive fitness experience. The app also tracks reps, records weight usage, and intelligently integrates this data to deliver more personalized workout recommendations.
Make a UI that works from 8-10 feet away.
Integrating motion tracking into the JRNY experience introduced unique challenges, particularly around user positioning and interaction. During strength workouts, users often face away from the screen—like in a dumbbell row—raising the question: how do they still receive feedback? And when they’re 8-10 feet away, how do we ensure key metrics remain visible? I pushed the team to tackle these problems head-on, driving updates to the design system to enhance readability and optimize voice coaching. I was hands-on throughout—brainstorming, refining concepts, and building production-ready comps to create a seamless, intuitive experience.
